I Have No Idea What I’m Doing (Again)

This year I’m going to record an audiobook version of my collection of short stories, Infinity Mathing at the Shore & Other Disturbances. Have I ever recorded an audiobook before? Nope. Do I know what I’m doing? Absolutely not. Is that going to stop me? It never has before.

I’m pretty sure I’m going to fail a lot along the way. But I embrace failure with the mind of a student: every time I fail is an opportunity to learn. And my absolute favorite thing to do is to learn stuff. So let’s fucking go and get an education.

This isn’t the only extremely ambitious goal that I’ve set for myself for 2025. But I find setting only easily attainable goals to be a little stale. It’s when I poke a little bit outside of my comfort zone that I get excited about my creativity. Growth comes from sitting with my discomfort.

School starts up for me in a couple days, and I’m ready to get uncomfortable. So what about you? Are you going to make yourself a little uncomfortable this year, or are you in another season of your creativity?
